Hotel
Hotel Avante ($179 per night)
A block of rooms has been reserved for Mashup Campers at the rate of $179 per night through the Hotel Avante.
In addition to offering free transportation to the Museum, the Hotel Avante has broadband connectivity in all of its rooms and the entire facility is otherwise wired for WiFi. They told us, "We cater to geeks." Sounds perfect. They also have a beer and wine happy hour and are completely flexible with the bar area. So, if someone wants to run an event – for example – one that runs into the late evening on the night before Mashup Camp starts, feel free to call the hotel and set it up. They're game for anything.
This also opens up the possibility for some late night event after the planned evening reception (on the first night of Mashup Camp) is over. So far, we haven't completely ironed out the details of the reception. As soon as we know, we'll post the details on the wiki so that if someone really wants to fire up a late night event at the Hotel Avante's happy hour area, they'll have the information they need (for example, when to start).

Wild Palms Hotel ($139 per night)
For the more budget conscious Camper, rooms have also been reserved a the rate of $139 per night at the Wild Palms Hotel. Although a more affordable per night option, please note that the Wild Palms Hotel does not offer shuttle service to or from the Computer History Muesum. The total distance to the museum is 5 miles.

Other options
If you're not one of the first dozen or so to reserve a room, you have a couple of options. One of them is to see if one of the existing attendees is willing to share a room with you (it might be a good idea to double check the bed configuration in the rooms). Or perhaps there are people living in the area who would be willing to have you stay as a house guest.
Then, there's the Holiday Inn Express. This hotel is next door to the Hotel Avante (so you can easily join your fellow campers for evening happy hour) and also offers shuttle service to the Computer History Mueseum.
If you are up for a short 12-15 minute walk, The Hampton Inn & Suites is conveniently located near downtown Mountain View's Castro Street.
There's also Pacific Euro Hotel (650.940.1331) right across the Caltrain station with 120 rooms. There might even be buses going from the Caltrain station to the museum.
Also, feel free to update this wiki page if you find other options that you think your fellow campers may be interested in.
Public Transportation
Public transportation information can be found here, http://www.511.org/, http://iamcaltrain.com/
Quite frankly, Public transportation to the Museum is a mess. vta.org (gives, basically, the same information as 511) is using Google trip planner for public transportation, but it has the last segment of the trip going from Terra Bella & Middlefield (I think it was) -- walking to the Museum. But the walk makes NO sense at all -- there's no actual streets shown that you should walk, but rather an arrow that goes from the origin to the Museum.
It would be nice if: 1/ Google (not very far away, and a sponsor) would allow attendees a "pass" to use their employee transportation and/or 2/ Transportation could be arranged from major points West of 101 over to the Museum. This is the biggest problem.
Car Pooling
There have been requests to set up a facility for carpooling. If there are campers who would like to either provide rides, or are looking for a ride to Camp or University, we suggest that you set up that information on your personal page. Please provide email address and/or contact info so interested parties can participate.
